Ashmour has an interesting history, and dates from Georgian times. It is a Grade 2 listed building. In recent years it was used as a Youth Hostel, but was converted into apartments during 2005. Apartment No 2 is at the front of the building (hence the views), on the first floor. It is accessed via a wide internal staircase.
We are the second owners of the apartment, having purchased it in April 2008. Our aim is to have a lovely place to stay both for ourselves & others. To this end we have equiped it with high quality products, which we hope you will enjoy using, including organic towels for the bathroom & bathrobes. We use Ecover products within the apartment & for all of the laundry.
Over the years we have stayed in some beautiful locations, but have often been dismayed by the uncomfortable beds that we have encountered. We believe that a comfortable bed is an essential for day to day living, and a necessity when on holiday. We hope that you find our choice of bed to your liking!
Our lounge measures 22'3" x 17'6" and has ceilings over 10 feet high. It has the original cornices & ceiling rose, as well as two huge floor to ceiling windows, with the original wooden shutters. There is also a balcony. There are views of the harbour, the sea and Hillsborough Iron Age Hill Fort from the lounge windows.
The furniture is arranged to give you sea views whilst relaxing or dining. During October 2008 we bought 2 very comfortable luxury leather sofas, one of which is a sofa bed. A micro sound system (CD & Radio) with MP3 facility is provided, as is a Samsung 32 inch LCD TV and a DVD player. We have also provided a range of CD's & DVD's.
Our bedroom is 14'3" x 8'9" and is equipped with a king-size divan bed with a leather headboard. The bed is made up for your arrival, with Egyptian cotton bedding.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, plus all of the everyday items that you may need, including an electric toaster, Denby tableware & lots of cutlery. We have also included a picnic set, thermos flask & cool bag for your days out.
We recently purchased a slow cooker for Ashmour, and have found it very useful ourselves, often preparing a chilli in the morning, before going out for a good long coastal walk. Knowing that you are returning to a comfortable apartment with a decent shower & a hot meal makes all the difference when doing the steep ups & downs of the coast path!
On the ground floor there is a utility room with a new washing machine and a new tumble dryer that can be used by guests staying at Ashmour.
No 2 Ashmour has one car parking space.
